It is said that the US and USSR kept from blowing each other to smithereens (an unclaimed space between the Jersey shore and Tonga) through a policy of MAD -- mutually assured destruction. Not a bad policy to follow when considering spilling someone else's secrets. So, for example, someone by the name of Kerry Katona, might have reconsidered writing in her book that mummy was a drug-addict, alcoholic and uncaring while she was abused because now the offended birther gets to offer the comeuppance with a tome of her own where she claims she was a better lover than her daughter, the drug addict whore.
Does the secret give power to the revealer or does the credibility of the revealer multiply how important is the secret? That is the conundrum to be considered with news that Gennifer Flowers and Paula Jones (dug by scandal archaeologists from the dirt of Bill Clinton's past) are wed in websitdom to continue to dish on the junior New York senator's husband, their former lover while Little Rock's loveguv, and try and hold onto the remainder of their celebrity before it slips away.
Secrets can fester within even the perfect vacation. Such was the experience of Mary Jo Eustace, mom of two (one newly adopted) and wife of actor Dean McDermott. Apparently, in three weeks of work on location with a woman he had previously and easily mocked, McDermott fell in love and planned his escape from the marriage. As is smart for anyone about to bring down the reveal, his bag was already packed.
And now off for a bit to discover secrets on my own time away.
Unintentional humor is often the best ... unless the laugh it at your expense -- I mean my expense, but may cut you some slack as thanks for reading. So there is great glee in reporting that Anthony Pellicano, secret stealer to-for-and-from the stars according to the NY Times trial update offered as some defense of his various alleged crimes "...that he never intended their secrets to become public," . And who does?
Virtue has the secrets to help triumph over evil. How much better can a Hollywood story get than having (Tarita) Virtue emerge from a hidden location to take the stand and testify against the evil king of filmdom private investigators, Anthony Pellicano, who is imprisoned and on trial for a long list of ill deeds committed on behalf of his various big shot clients. And, oh yeah, Pellicano threatened to kill Virtue.
It's Two-Question Saturday. One: can a celebrity keep a secret? Two: Can you be a secret celebrity? Or, given the choice, would you prefer to be Spice Girl Melanie Brown whose rocky marriage is on the shoals thanks to her "secret reunion" with babydaddy Eddie Murphy or accordionist superstar Olaf Sveen, an Edmonton great who was hardly able to walk down an Oslo street without being sort of mobbed?
Secrets sell. Just yell the word aloud to get attention. For example, Missy Chase Lapine is getting favorable press and attention for her cookbook, "The Sneaky Chef" by accusing Jessica (Ms. Jerry) Seinfeld for stealing secrets for "The Bee Movie" autuer's wife's cookbook, "Deceptively Delicious." And the accusation of secret stealing, as well as the defense of alleged secret stealer is leading to more publicity and sales for both.
Was it Shaunee's stashing the money in places only she knew about? Or was it Shaquille's other women (third item)? For the public it may always be a secret what secret was revealed -- and how -- that led to a diesel divorce.
You know his face. His name -- Alfred Molina -- probably makes you think of someone who isn't him. Still, his secret is many others' as well: "In private, in my fantasy life, in my heart, the secret I kept to myself was that I wanted everything. I was hugely ambitious."
