Is it a secret to the unhappiness of many that they confine their attention to what they can't control (e.g., mistakes from the past; celebrity scandals; the dow jones average) rather than do the hard work of living to set and work at achieving the possible (e.g., live better today; work at their current relationships; handle their money responsibly for today and the future)? Or it is too obvious? Could this this only be a secret to those who lie to themselves about its "mystery"?
A line separates what a majority believe is lying and keeping a secret? Not everyone agrees where the line is -- and an individual might not feel there is even one definite site -- but wherever the line, once you know it has been crossed it is foolish to feel anything less than pity (and complete antipathy is not necessarily wrong) for the person who pretends the line was either never there or still yet to be crossed.
Can the president hide a secret in plain sight? He signed bills, but while doing so said he wouldn't enforce their intent. Who paid attention? Maybe the best place to hide a secret is through misdirection, but right out in the open.
